  My 45 Minute Conversation With JWs Today

  as i was saying before the watchtower literature trolley has arrived in my little town.... my wife and i were in town this afternoon and i saw one of my former elder colleagues standing beside the trolley talking to a young man and reading to him from one of their books.

  ray was one my least favourite people - he was everything that is bad about jw elders.

  i went up to them and interrupted and told the man that this is a cult recruitment campaign.

  I liked your link to the previous post, and Witness My Fury's idea:

  "Make a sandwich board (freestanding type) with It's a cult! and www.jwfacts.com on it in big letters and stand it right next to the JW.org cart. Stand within rescuing distance of it as the JWs will try and remove it within 30 seconds.... Prepare for the ensuing confrontation of wills LOL."

  And this says it all: "Ray was one my least favourite people - he was everything that is bad about JW elders" We know exactly what you mean...

  One day, my hubby and I will be 'at the trolly' with our jw.fact stickers, or clapboards or..... something! haha! They can't escape!

  Reverse Witnessing - Will NEVER work!

  its been a while since i spoke up.

  after a lot of 'tactful' questioning, i have come under the conclusion that witnessing ttatt with dubs will never work.

  there is nothing called reasoning with them.

  TMS: very interesting.. "After all that was carefully explained, repeated several times, several different ways, he said: "Just remember, Jehovah sees all this."

  I have heard the same kind of "cookie cutter" responses/ phrases from different witnesses also. Things that are deep within them..

  That being said, what made you start doubting? or got you out? (My husband was an elder for 10's of years also, we are both out, along with our children)

  NY44: I am an 'independent thinker' (haha!) and we just left in 2012? +/- So, maybe, just maybe, there may be some left to reach? maybe they are new? (But, usually you can tell who 'thinks or doesn't think'... that is the question)

  all - so my wife told me she was going to the kh yesrterday.

  it has been a couple of months so i was a bit disappointed but i sucked it in.

  i thought about it for a while and when we had a quiet moment together i said to her: "i know you need to make an appearance every once in a while to avoid the risk of being asked to da yourself and being shunned.

  I was going to suggest that you "do other things with her," but u already have done a great job!

  I really do think that 'being away from the meetings,' and having less propaganda hit you day after day, frees one's brain to think....

  If she CAN find friends "on the outside," I think this is also the major plus to 'surviving the shunning' and the 'exodus'

  Here's something that bothered both my husband and I....

  Sitting at the 2010 District Convention, listening to the Bethel speaker make a joke about Harold Camping "How can someone be so stupid that they think they can guess the date and be wrong! Hahahah.. And people actually believed him!" (not exact words, but basic idea)

  The whole audience laughed along! My husband and I looked at each other, felt sorry for 'Harold' and thought, "this is so sad! they are laughing at people who are sincere, and what in the HECK has the WT been doing it's whole LIFE!? Guessing!!! Telling us WHEN Armageddon is coming, then blaming US for believing them!"

  This type of 'little' thing added up... helped us see the TRUE persona of the WTBS!

  Want to know why people accept evolution ?

  do you have questions about or want to understand evolution?

  it is a difficult concept to communicate and so if it is not explained well , it is understandable that we would dismiss it.. i sincerely want to talk with people who want to learn more or see what all the fuss is about.

  we are all learning and increasing our knowledge all the time and it is good to go over facts with critical eye.. evolution we can discuss, looking at the foundational facts and evidence, one at a time for you to go and check, agree or disagree with and return.. no pressure to accept it, you can decide for yourself, also no mocking etc of what you have to say.. .
